Decker Breaks 800-Meter Record at Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J.—Junior John Decker (Parkland, Fla.) won the 800-meter run with a school-record time and sophomore Matthew Dynan (Reading, Mass.) finished 12th in the 1500-meter run at the Princeton University Larry Ellis Invitational on Saturday.

Decker posted a time of 1:52.90 to break his own program record by 0.12 while finishing more than a half-second ahead of his closest competitor. His time is the fastest in the region this spring and is currently the 17th fastest 800-meter time in Division III.

Dynan, who set a new school record in the 1500 meters last Saturday at Connecticut College, finished Saturday's race with a time of 4:01.04, which was good for second place among Division III competitors.

The Beavers return to action next Saturday when they compete in the NEWMAC Championships at MIT.
