Four From Men's Track & Field Named to NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team

BOSTON—The Babson College men's track & field team had four athletes recognized for their work in the classroom when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its Academic All-Conference team on Wednesday.

Senior Trevor Lomba (Dartmouth, Mass.) was named to the team for the third year in a row, juniors Jonathan Martin (Valrico, Fla.) and Jonathan Miller (Westford, Mass.) were selected for the second consecutive season, and sophomore Gabe Ficht (Newburyport, Mass.) was honored for the first time.

Lomba posted his fastest times of the year in the 200 meters (25.12) and 400 meters (54.55) at the Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College on April 15, while Miller recorded the league's 28th fastest time it the 5000 meters (16:06.78) last Saturday at MIT's Sean Collier Invitational. Martin's time of 4:45.48 at MIT was his best of the season, and Ficht recorded his top time of the spring in the 800-meter run (1:58.94) at Connecticut College two weeks ago.

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2016 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at his institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

Babson will return to MIT for the NEWMAC Championships on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.
