LONG BEACH, Calif.- Senior John Decker ( Parkland, Fla.) and junior Matthew Dynan (Reading, Mass.) recorded season-best marks in the 800-meter run and 1500-meter run, respectively, while competiting in a pair of meets in southern California over the weekend.
Decker, who recorded the nation's second-fastest Division III 800-meter mark at the Sam Howell Invitational back on April 6, ran 1:55.62 at the Mt. Sac Relays on his first day of races. The senior 800-meter runner returned to competition on Saturday afternoon at the Long Beach State Invitational and improved on his Division III number-two time when he clocked a 1:51.14, good enough for the third-best performance of his career.
Dynan opened up his first day of competition running a season-best 3:57.25 in the 1500-meter run on Friday at the Mt. Sac Relays. Competing in the third fastest heat of hte event, recorded the fastest last lap in heat, clocking in at 60.25 over the final 400-meters. Dynan then turned in a 4:00.14 performance at the Long Beach Invitational which was under his previous season-best.
The Beavers return to action next Saturday when they compete in the NEWMAC Championships at Springfield beginning at 10:30 a.m.
