Men's Track & Field Places Three on NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team

WESTWOOD, Mass.—Three members of the Babson College men's track & field team were recognized for their work in the classroom when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released its Academic All-Conference team last week.

Senior Jonathan Miller (Westford, Mass.) was honored for the third year in a row, while sophomores Sean Rezendes (Scituate, Mass.) and Nicholas Virkler (Lincoln, Mass.) were named to the squad for the first time.

Miller wrapped up his Babson career on Saturday at the NEWMAC Championships by finishing seventh in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 34:16.13, while Virkler posted an eighth-place showing in the 800-meter run with a season-best time of 1:58.04. Rezendes, who broke his own program mark by clearing 6-feet, 2-inches in the high jump back on April 7 at Coast Guard, finished 10th in the high jump and 11th in long jump at the conference meet.

Rezendes, who is one of male qualifiers, and the Beavers will begin competition at the NCAA New England Championships on Friday afternoon at MIT.
