WESTWOOD, Mass.—The Babson College men's track & field team came in sixth when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released its preseason coaches' poll earlier this week.
Coming off of its 18th straight league title last season, MIT collected five first-place votes to finish atop the poll. WPI came in second, Coast Guard Academy was third and Springfield College and Wheaton College finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
The Beavers, under the guidance of 15th-year head coach Russ Brennen, bring back 10 athletes after recording the most points in program history at the 2018 conference meet on the way to placing fifth. Seven of the team's 10 returners enter the season holding a school record in either an individual or relay event.
Babson, which sent nine competitors to Point Loma last weekend, will take part in its first full-team meet of the season on Saturday at Bridgewater State starting at 9 a.m.
