Cross Country at the Runnin' Monks Invitational

The Babson College men's and women's cross country teams will travel to the Saint Joseph's College Runnin' Monks Invitational for the first time in program history on Saturday. The women's 5k race starts at 11 a.m., which will be followed by the men's 8k race at 12 p.m.
SCOUTING THE BABSON MEN
The Beavers are coming off a seventh-place finish at the Saratoga Invitational last Saturday. Senior John Decker came in third overall with a career-best time of 25:37, which was a second faster than junior Matthew Dynan who came in fourth. Seniors Scott Atwood (27:15) and Jonathan Miller (27:21) both produced their top times of the season to finish 80th and 86th, respectively. First-year Zach Goldberg also recorded a top-100 result with his time of 27:33 on the 8k course.
SCOUTING THE BABSON WOMEN
The Green and White had seven runners post new personal records is it finished 13th overall at the Saratoga Invitational last Saturday. Sophomore Stephanie Rodriguez finished the 5k course with a time of 19:05, which is good for the 11th fastest time in program history, while senior Melanie Plattner crossed the finish line in a career-best time of 19:13. Junior Chaela Hood (19:37) and senior Heather Murphy (20:07) also registered the top times of their respective careers on the Saratoga Spa State Park Course.
SCOUTING THE FIELD
Maine-Farmington has won two straight men's titles, while Emmanuel (2015) and Emerson (2016) have been victorious over the last two years on the women's side.
The men's 8k record is 26:49 set back in 2010 by James Vance of Johnson & Wales, while Cat Lariviere of Emmanuel posted the top women's 5k time (19:46) back in 2008.
LOOKING DOWN THE ROAD
The Beavers will compete for the third week in a row next Saturday when they head south to the Connecticut College Invitational. Additionally, they will return to Maine for the NCAA New England Championships on November 11.
