Wurdeman Earns Third NEWMAC Player of the Week Honor

BABSON PARK, Mass. -- For the third time this season, Babson College sophomore Nicki Wurdeman (Rowley, Mass.) has been named the NEWMAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
In yet another 2-0 week for the Beavers, Wurdeman averaged 19.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 blocks, and 2.0 steals per game while shooting .630 (17-27) from the field. On Wednesday, she recorded 17 points, four boards, seven blocks, three steals, and two assists to help the Beavers rally from an eight-point halftime deficit en route to a 69-50 win at Wheaton. Then on Saturday, she netted 22 points to go with nine rebounds, a block, and a steal in just 22 minutes of a 67-36 win at Smith.
Through 19 games this winter, Wurdeman leads Babson with 15.6 point, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game. The second-year forward is also shooting a team-best .578 from the field, including a sparkling .524 from three-point range, while also shooting .706 from the free throw line.
With Wurdeman and fellow sophomore standout Kathleen King (Framingham, Mass.) leading the way, Babson has won eight straight games to improve to 16-3 overall and a perfect 12-0 in the NEWMAC. With six games remaining, the Beavers are closing in on their first regular season title and top seed in the conference tournament since 2003.
Babson hosts MIT at 7 p.m. this Wednesday.
