Women's Basketball Headed to Top-Ranked Amherst for NCAA Sectionals

BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College women's basketball team, which defeated No. 25 FDU-Florham, 63-62, in overtime in a second round NCAA Tournament contest on Saturday, will travel to Amherst College for the sectional round of the 2017 Championship this coming weekend.

The Beavers (24-5), who are making their first Sweet 16 appearance since 2011 and the program's fifth overall, will face top-ranked Amherst (29-0) in the second of two sectional semifinals on Friday at 7 p.m. Amherst, which advanced to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament for the 10th year in a row, defeated Babson, 67-62, back on November 20.

UMass Dartmouth (24-5), which earned the first NCAA Tournament berth in program history last Monday, will take on SUNY New Paltz (20-8) in the other sectional semifinal at 5 p.m. after upsetting 11th-ranked Montclair State University, 71-63, on Saturday. The Hawks advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history after defeating Ithaca College, 83-80, on Saturday.

The winners of Friday's games will meet on Saturday at 6 p.m. with the winner earning a berth to the Division III Final Four at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich., on March 17-18.

Tickets will be sold at the door and are $7 for adults and $4 for students, senior citizens and children.
