Pickering Named to D3hoops.com All-Northast Region First Team

BABSON PARK, Mass.—After leading Babson College to the third round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011, senior Giovanna Pickering (Hull, Mass.) was named to the D3hoops.com All-Northeast Region first team on Monday afternoon.

Pickering averaged career highs of 18.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.4 steals while shooting 44.3 percent from the floor in 29 starts this winter to earn the first all-region award of her career. She reached double figures in 27 of 29 games, surpassed 20 points on 12 occasions, and tied for third on the program's single-season assist chart (115) and fourth on the points list (535).

Pickering, who left her mark as one of the top players in program history, ranks first all-time in assists (376), fourth in steals (245) and is sixth among Babson players with 1,538 points. She was selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Rookie of the Year in 2014, earned all-league honors in each of her final three seasons and was tabbed as the 2017 conference player of the year earlier this month.

Babson, which finished the year at 24-6, won its seventh NEWMAC Tournament championship in nine years and advanced to the sectional semifinals before falling to No. 1 Amherst last Friday.
