BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College junior Payton Ouimette (Medfield, Mass.) picked up a pair of awards on Monday as she was selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Offensive Player of the Week and the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Player of the Week.
Ouimette produced three double-doubles and averaged 17.5 points and 15.3 rebounds while shooting 50 percent in four games over the holidays for the Beavers. She finished with 18 points and a career-high 21 rebounds in a December 20th win over Roanoke, and followed it up with a season-high 22 points on 10-of-13 shooting and nine boards in a 69-63 loss to Bates on December 21. Over the weekend, Ouimette put up 11 points and 14 rebounds against Colby and 19 points and 17 rebounds in a 75-51 win over MCLA to collected Naismith Classic All-Tournament honors.
Ouimette, who has now earned four weekly awards from the NEWMAC this season, is averaging team highs of 14.5 points and 12.2 rebounds while shooting 52.6 percent from the floor. She currently ranks first in the league in rebounding and double-doubles (7), second in scoring, and fourth in field goal percentage.
Babson (7-4, 3-0 NEWMAC) returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to MIT for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
