WESTWOOD, Mass.—After helping the Babson College women's basketball team capture a share of its third straight New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season title, junior Payton Ouimette (Medfield, Mass.) garnered all-league first-team honors on Tuesday morning.
Ouimette averaged 13.4 points and 11.8 boards while amassing a conference-high 18 double-doubles in 27 starts in her first season with the Green and White. She ranked first in the NEWMAC in both offensive and defensive rebounds, and was third in both scoring and field goal percentage, connecting on 51.1 percent of her shots from the field.
One of the nation's top rebounders, Ouimette ranked 14th in Division III and sixth on the program's single-season list with 314 boards. Her 18 double-doubles also ranked 10th nationally and are the most by a Babson player since Sarah Collins '13 recorded 25 in 29 games during the 2012-13 campaign.
In addition to Ouimette's honor, junior Elizabeth Lane (Skaneateles, N.Y.) was named to the NEWMAC Sportsmanship team. She averaged career-highs of 7.3 points and 3.4 rebounds while starting 26 of 27 contests.
The Beavers finished the year at 18-9 after suffering an overtime loss to WPI in a NEWMAC Tournament semifinal last Saturday.
