BABSON PARK, Mass.—On the heels of earning conference and regional honors, Babson College senior Payton Ouimette (Medfield, Mass.) was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week late Monday night.
Ouimette, who averaged 20.0 points, 16.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists while posting a pair of double-doubles, was joined on the squad by juniors Kathleen Wilson of Centre, Maddie Hasson of Bowdoin and Delanei Stephens of the University of the Ozarks, and sophomore Shayne Smith of Monmouth (Ill.). She had previously been selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Offensive Player of the Week and named to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWMAC) weekly honor roll on Monday.
Ouimette scored 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting and added 10 rebounds to earn all-tournament team honors as the Beavers defeated UMass Dartmouth, 85-77, in the championship game of the Judy Pearson '85 Memorial Tournament last Monday. She followed it up by putting up 20 points to go along with a career-high 20 boards and five assists in Saturday's 75-67 win at Clark on Saturday.
One of the nation's top rebounders, Ouimette is averaging 14.9 points, 12.6 boards and 3.2 assists, and is tied for 16th in Division III with eight double-doubles in 12 games this winter. She is also currently the only player in the NEWMAC that ranks in the top 10 in points, rebounds and assists.
Babson (10-2, 4-1 NEWMAC), which has won eight consecutive games, hosts Emerson on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
