Field Hockey Announces 2017 Schedule

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Coming off a historic 2016 campaign that included the program's first trip to the Division III Final Four, Babson College field hockey coach Julie Ryan released the team's 2017 schedule on Tuesday.

The Beavers' 20-game slate features five contests against teams that participated in the NCAA Tournament last fall. The Green and White opens the season at home against Worcester State on September 1 before hitting the road for five of its next seven contests.

Babson travels to Skidmore, which reached the national quarterfinals last fall, on September 2 and defending national runner-up Tufts on September 12 prior to hosting MIT in its New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener on September 16. The Beavers welcome 2015 Division III national champion Middlebury to MacDowell Field on September 24, and also face trips to conference foes Springfield (September 23) and Mount Holyoke (September 30) over the final week of the month.

The Green and White travels to local rival Wellesley on October 3 and will visit Bates (October 10) and Smith (October 14) before finishing with four of its final five games at home. Babson hosts league opponents Wheaton (October 17) and WPI (October 21) in addition to a non-conference tilt against the University of New England on October 25 before closing the regular season at Montclair State on October 28.

The six-team NEWMAC Tournament begins with a pair of quarterfinal matchups on October 31 with the league's top seed set to host the semifinals and championship game on November 4-5.
