WESTWOOD, Mass.—Babson College senior Tori Roche (Andover, Mass.) and sophomore Cassidy Riley (Catonsville, Md.) were both honored when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its weekly award winners on Tuesday morning. Roche was named as the offensive player of the week, while Riley was selected as the defensive player of the week.
Roche finished with three goals and one assist for seven points and became the just the 10th player in program history surpass 100 points in a 3-0 week for the 19th-ranked Beavers. She scored twice in Tuesday's 5-1 victory at Wellesley and followed it up with the game-winning goal and a second-half assist in Saturday's 3-1 win over Clark.
Roche ranks third in the conference in goals (10) and is tied for fifth in points (22), and has produced seven goals and two assists for 16 points against five NEWMAC opponents.
Riley posted a 0.67 goals against average and a .800 save percentage to go along with one shutout in three starts last week for the Green and White. She made one save at Wellesley and stopped four shots against Clark before capping the week by stopping three shots to record her fourth shutout of the year in the Beavers' 1-0 triumph at Wesleyan on Sunday.
Riley, who has been tabbed as the NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week in four of the last five weeks, ranks first in the conference in wins (11) and shutouts (4), and is second in both goals against average (0.81) and save percentage (.828).
Babson (11-3, 5-0 NEWMAC) returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Smith at 12 p.m.
