WESTWOOD, Mass.—Babson College sophomore Cassidy Riley (Catonsville, Md.) was tabbed as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) field hockey Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Riley recorded two shutouts and posted a 0.34 goals against average and a .909 save percentage in three starts last week. She made three saves in a 5-0 win over Wheaton on Tuesday and stopped four shots as the 17th-ranked Beavers blanked No. 16 Bates, 2-0, on Thursday. Riley concluded the week with three more saves in Babson's 5-1 triumph over WPI.
A five-time NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week selection this fall, Riley boasts a 0.74 goals against average and a .833 save percentage to go along with six shutouts in 18 starts for the Beavers. She ranks first in the conference in all three categories and is 11th in Division III in goals against average and 15th in save percentage.
Babson (15-3, 8-0 NEWMAC), which ended conference play without a loss for the fourth year in a row, travels to Union on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
