BABSON PARK, Mass.—The 15th-ranked Babson College field hockey team earned one of five at-large selections to the 2019 NCAA Division III Tournament when the 24-team field was announced late Sunday night.
The Beavers (18-4), who had their 13-game winning streak halted in a 3-2 OT loss to MIT in Saturday's New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament final, return to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in four seasons and fifth time overall. Babson will host Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) champion Saint Joseph's College (18-3) in Wednesday's first round. The Green and White defeated the Monks, 1-0, back on September 7 in Standish, Maine.
The winner of Wednesday's contest will advance to face second-ranked Middlebury College (17-1), which was selected as one of four regional hosts.
The start time for Wednesday's game against Saint Joseph's at MacDowell Field will be announced on Monday, and a full first round preview will be published on Tuesday.
