Women's Lacrosse To Host Farmingdale State In NCAA Tournament First Round
BABSON PARK Mass. -- The NCAA released its 2009 Division III
Women's Lacrosse Tournament brackets on Sunday night, and
three-time NEWMAC Champion Babson College will host its first-ever
national tourney game when the Beavers welcome Skyline Conference
Champion Farmingdale State in the First Round on Wednesday, May
6th, at 7 p.m.
Tickets will cost $3 for adults, $2 for students with ID, and $1
for children between the ages of 2-12. Babson students with ID will
be admitted free.
Babson (14-2), ranked 13th in the nation, earned its third consecutive automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament earlier in the day as the Beavers defeated Springfield College, 15-7, in the NEWMAC Championship game. In its first two appearances in the national tournament, Babson has posted a record of 1-2. The Beavers' lone win came in the First Round at Trinity College last spring, while both losses have taken place at Franklin & Marshall in Lancaster, Pennsylvania - one to Mary Washington in 2007 and the other to the host Diplomats last year.
Farmingdale State earned an automatic bid to this year's NCAA Tourney via a 16-13 victory over Montclair State in the Skyline Conference Finals on Saturday. The Sea Gulls enter this year's tournament with an overall record of 11-3.
The winner of Wednesday's First Round matchup will head to Salisbury, Maryland, where they will meet the nation's top-ranked team, Salisbury University, on Saturday, May 9.
