Collins, Pettengill Named IWLCA All-America; Three Others Earn Regional Recognition
The final women's lacrosse postseason awards for the 2009 season have officially been announced, and several Babson College players were recognized. Leading the way for the Beavers were juniors Anna Collins (Winchester, Mass.) and Kaitlyn Pettengill (Hopkinton, Mass.), who both garnered All-America honors from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). Collins was named All-America Second Team - her second straight national award - while Pettengill earned All-America Third Team status. Joining Collins and Pettengill on the IWLCA's All-New England First Team (Berkshires Region) were senior captains Lindsay Bucci (Medford, Mass.) and Jackie Godfrey (Franklin, Mass.), while first-year Trisha Babson (Duxbury, Mass.) was dubbed All-New England Second Team. Godfrey and Collins were also named All-New England First Team by the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC), with Pettengill earning Second Team recognition. Rounding out the team's impressive list of awards was Babson, who was crowned the ECAC New England Rookie of the Year.

Collins, Seven Others Garner NEWMAC Postseason Recognition
The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) recently announced its 2009 women's lacrosse postseason award winners, and a total of eight athletes represented three-time conference champion Babson College. Junior Anna Collins (Winchester, Mass.) was named NEWMAC Player of the Year while joining senior captain Jackie Godfrey (Franklin, Mass.), senior captain Lindsay Bucci (Medford, Mass.), and junior Kaitlyn Pettengill (Hopkinton, Mass.) on the All-Conference First Team, and first-year Trisha Babson (Duxbury, Mass.) became the program's fifth straight NEWMAC Rookie of the Year while joining sophomore Sarah Macary (Woodbury, Conn.) and senior captain Jess Parker (Cataumet, Mass.) on the All-Conference Second Team. Sophomore Kristy Benoit (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was also honored, as she was named to the Academic All-Conference Team.

#1 Salisbury Defeats #10 Babson, 18-7, In NCAA Tournament Second Round
The Babson College women’s lacrosse team put up a valiant effort against the top-ranked team in the nation on Saturday, but the 10th-ranked Beavers eventually fell to #1 Salisbury University, 18-7, in the second round of the 2009 NCAA Division III Tournament. With the loss, Babson sees its magnificent season come to a close with a record of 15-3.

#10 Women's Lacrosse Cruises Past Farmingdale State, 19-7, In NCAA Tournament Opener
The Babson College women’s lacrosse team scored 16 first-half goals on its way to a 19-7 victory over visiting Farmingdale State College in the First Round of the 2009 NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse Tournament at Babson’s MacDowell Field on Wednesday night. With the win, the Beavers, ranked 10th in the nation in the most recent IWLCA poll, advance to Saturday’s Second Round at Salisbury University where they will take on the top-ranked Sea Gulls at 11:30 a.m. Making its third straight NCAA Tournament appearance and hosting for the first time, Babson extended its current winning streak to 13 games – the longest in program history. The Beavers were led by junior Anna Collins (Winchester, Mass.), who recorded four goals and three groundballs, and senior captain Jackie Godfrey (Franklin, Mass.), who added three goals and three assists.

Babson Celebrates Class of 2009 At 28th Annual Senior Awards Banquet
The Babson College Athletics Department held its 28th Annual Senior Awards Banquet on Friday night, where a total of seven individuals were honored. Men’s Soccer senior Tim Winn (Sutton, Mass.) was named Male Athlete of the Class, while women’s lacrosse senior Jackie Godfrey (Franklin, Mass.) was selected as the Female Athlete of the Class. Ice Hockey senior Alex DiPietro (Winthrop, Mass.) was named the Scholar-Athlete of the Class, and baseball senior Jeff Wojnar (Bellaire, Texas) took home the Michael J. Conlon Award. In addition to the senior awards, Professor Tony Wain was the recipient of the prestigious Paul C. Staake Award for outstanding contributions to Babson Athletics, while a pair of first-year athletes were also honored. Field hockey and softball first-year Jess Pashos (Winchester, Mass.) received the Lori Vengrow Award, and men’s tennis freshman Danny Schneider (Littleton, Mass.) claimed the Colin "Chip" Brown Award.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE WINS THIRD STRAIGHT NEWMAC CHAMPIONSHIP
The top-seeded Babson College women’s lacrosse team secured its third consecutive New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship and NCAA Division III Tournament berth on Sunday, as the Beavers defeated second-seeded Springfield College by a score of 15-7 in the NEWMAC Tournament Finals at Babson’s MacDowell Field. The victory improved the Beavers’ record to 14-2 on the season and extended their conference winning streak to a program-record 24 games. Leading Babson’s potent offensive attack were junior Kaitlyn Pettengill (Hopkinton, Mass.), who recorded four goals and three assists for seven points, and senior captain Jackie Godfrey (Franklin, Mass.), who finished a tremendous all-around performance with two goals, two assists, three groundballs, three draw controls, and three caused turnovers. Sophomore Kristy Benoit (Shrewsbury, Mass.) turned in a spectacular effort off the bench for the Beavers, totaling two goals, one assist and three caused turnovers in 25 minutes of play, and junior Anna Collins (Winchester, Mass.) and senior captain Jess Parker (Cataumet, Mass.) contributed two goals apiece.

Women's Lacrosse To Host Farmingdale State In NCAA Tournament First Round
The NCAA released its 2009 Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament brackets on Sunday night, and three-time NEWMAC Champion Babson College will host its first-ever national tourney game when the Beavers welcome Skyline Conference Champion Farmingdale State in the First Round on Wednesday, May 6th, at 7 p.m.Tickets will cost $3 for adults, $2 for students with ID, and $1 for children between the ages of 2-12. Babson students with ID will be admitted free. Babson (14-2), ranked 13th in the nation, earned its third consecutive automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament earlier in the day as the Beavers defeated Springfield College, 15-7, in the NEWMAC Championship game.

Women's Lacrosse Throttles Wellesley, 21-7, In NEWMAC Semifinals
The top-seeded Babson College women’s lacrosse team advanced to its third consecutive New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference championship game after defeating #4 Wellesley College, 21-7, in the semifinal round at Babson’s MacDowell Field on Saturday afternoon. The Beavers (13-2) now advance to Sunday’s championship game at 1 p.m., where they will host second-seeded Springfield after the Pride edged MIT, 14-12, in Saturday's second semifinal. Babson was led by junior Anna Collins (Winchester, Mass.), who tallied seven goals and one assist for eight points, extending her school record to 84 points on the season. Junior Kaitlin Pettengill (Hopkinton, Mass.) added three goals and one assist for four points, first-year Trisha Babson (Duxbury, Mass.) contributed two goals and three assists for five points, and senior captain Lindsay Bucci (Medford, Mass.) netted three goals.

Women’s Lacrosse Caps Undefeated NEWMAC Regular Season with 18-4 Win Over Wheaton
The Babson women’s lacrosse team has gone undefeated in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season play for the third straight season after winning their final regular season match of the year 18-4 over visiting Wheaton College. Babson’s offense was led by juniors Anna Collins (Winchester, Mass.) and Kaitlyn Pettengill (Hopkinton, Mass.) who scored five goals apiece in the defeat. With the win, the Beavers improve to 12-2 on the season, 6-0 in the NEWMAC and Wheaton is now 6-9 overall, 2-4 in the NEWMAC.#5 seeded Wheaton will visit #4 seeded Wellesley College on Wednesday for the first round of the NEWMAC championship tournament. #1 seeded Babson has a first round bye and will face the winner of the Wheaton/Wellesley game in the semifinals Saturday, May 2nd at noon at Babson College.

Women's Lacrosse Hosts Alumni Game at First Annual Babson Athletics Alumni Weekend
The Babson College women’s lacrosse team hosted an alumni game on Saturday, April 18th as a part of the first annual Babson Athletics Alumni Weekend. A group of eleven Babson women’s lacrosse alumni squared off in a friendly competition prior to that day’s varsity women’s lacrosse game. Babson College hosted its first annual Athletics Alumni Spring Celebration weekend, bringing nearly 300 former players, coaches, and family members to campus. Highlighting the spectacular weekend was the 12th Babson Athletics Hall of Fame dinner and induction ceremony on Friday, April 17th. Hundreds of alumni attended an afternoon BBQ on the Upper Fields on Saturday, April 18th. Several programs hosted alumni games in the morning, including women's lacrosse, field hockey, men's soccer, men’s and women’s tennis and ice hockey while Babson also played host to seven home varsity events.

Women's Lacrosse Secures #1 Seed in NEWMAC Tournament After 16-10 Win Over MIT
The 13th-ranked Babson College women’s lacrosse team locked up its third consecutive New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season title with a 16-10 victory at MIT on Tuesday. Extending their conference winning streak to 21 games, the Beavers (11-2, 5-0 NEWMAC) will now earn a first-round bye in the NEWMAC Tournament and as the top seed will host the semifinals and finals on May 2-3.Junior Kaitlyn Pettengill (Hopkinton, Mass.) paced Babson with five goals in the victory, while junior Anna Collins (Winchester, Mass.) joined her classmate with five points off four goals and one assist.

Collins Earns Second NEWMAC Player of the Week Award
For the second time this season, Babson College junior midfielder Anna Collins (Winchester, Mass.) has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week. Collins had another monster week for 13th-ranked Babson, totaling 11 goals, including two game-winners, and three assists for 14 points to go with five groundballs and three caused turnovers. On Tuesday, she scored five goals and added one groundball, one draw, and two CT’s in a 21-3 rout of Wellesley. Then on Saturday, Collins racked up six goals and three assists for nine points to go with four groundballs and one caused turnover in a 20-7 victory over Endicott.

Women's Lacrosse Cruises Past Endicott, 20-7
Babson juniors Kaitlyn Pettengill (Hopkinton, Mass.) and Anna Collins (Winchester, Mass.) combined for thirteen goals as the Beavers defeated visiting Endicott College 20-7 on Saturday afternoon at MacDowell Field. With the win, Babson improves to 10-2 on the season and Endicott is now 10-4. Pettengill had a game high seven goals and Collins tallied six goals and three assists for nine points while picking up four groundballs. Senior tri-captain Lindsay Bucci (Medford, Mass.) scored four goals while senior Jess Parker (Cataumet, Mass.)and sophomores Kristy Benoit (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Alyssa Hood (Newport, R.I.) each added one goal in the win.

#13 Women's Lax Runs NEWMAC Win Streak To 20 With 21-3 Rout Of Wellesley
The nationally-ranked Babson College women’s lacrosse team extended its New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) winning streak to 20 games on Tuesday night, as the #13 Beavers buried visiting archrival Wellesley College, 21-3, under the lights at MacDowell Field. With its 16th straight regular season conference win and 20th straight overall in league play, Babson improved to 9-2 overall and 4-0 in the NEWMAC. Babson dominated the contest from the outset, netting four straight goals and seven of the game’s first eight strikes to build an early 7-1 advantage. Senior tri-captain Lindsay Bucci (Medford, Mass.) tallied all three of her goals during the run, while junior Anna Collins (Winchester, Mass.) added two others.

MIT Edges Babson Men's Lacrosse, 4-3
A pair of fourth-quarter goals helped propel MIT to a 4-3 victory over Babson College in a Pilgrim Lacrosse League game on Saturday. With the win, the Engineers improved to 5-5 on the year and 2-1 in conference play while the Beavers’ ledger dipped to 3-8 overall and 2-1 in Pilgrim action. Both squads continue conference play on Wednesday, April 15. Babson will host Clark University for a 7pm game at MacDowell Field while MIT will travel to Norwich University.

Women's Lacrosse Edges Springfield, 12-11 to Remain Undefeated in NEWMAC Play
The Babson College women’s lacrosse team edged Springfield College 12-11, in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest on Saturday afternoon. Springfield scored four unanswered goals late in the second half, but the Beavers were able to hold off the Pride for the final six minutes to take the win. Babson was led by junior Anna Collins (Winchester, Mass.) who scored five goals and added one assist. With the win, the Beavers are now 8-2, 3-0 in the NEWMAC and Springfield has dropped to 7-4, 2-1 in the NEWMAC.

Late Surge Sends Babson Women’s Lacrosse Past Wesleyan, 11-6
The Babson College women’s lacrosse team defeated Wesleyan University 11-6 Tuesday night in a non-conference match. A closely contested game ended in favor of the Beavers after they scored four unanswered goals in the final seven minutes of play. Babson was led by junior Anna Collins (Winchester, Mass.) who scored four goals on the day. With the win, Babson is now 7-2 overall and Wesleyan fell to 4-7.

Pettengill Notches Second Straight NEWMAC Player of the Week Award
After a monster 11-point performance against Mount Holyoke on Friday, Babson College junior Kaitlyn Pettengill (Hopkinton, Mass.) was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week on Monday. It marked the second straight week in which the star midfielder was honored by the league, and it was the third time in five weeks that a Babson player has been selected. Pettengill amassed a game-high 11 points in Babson's lone game of the week - a 21-6 road win over Mount Holyoke on Friday. In the victory, she amassed five goals and six assists to go with six groundballs and three draw controls.

#12 Beavers Storm Past Mount Holyoke, 21-6
The Babson College women’s lacrosse team, ranked 12th in the latest Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association national poll, cruised to a 21-6 victory over Mount Holyoke College this evening at the Mount Holyoke Turf Field. It was the Beavers sixth straight win over their New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) rivals. Junior Kaitlyn Pettengill (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) racked up 11 points on five goals and six assists for Babson, which found the win column for the fourth time in a row.

Pettengill Named NEWMAC Player of the Week
After leading the nationally-ranked Babson College women's lacrosse team to two more victories this week, junior midfielder Kaitlyn Pettengill (Hopkinton, Mass.) was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week on Monday. Pettengill totaled seven goals and one assist for eight points to go with seven groundballs, one draw control, and five caused turnovers in a 2-0 week for the 11th-ranked Beavers. On Wednesday, she recorded four goals, including the game-winner, along with one assist, three GB’s, a draw, and two CT’s in a 14-11 victory over Bates. Then on Saturday, the junior midfielder tallied three goals, four groundballs, and three caused turnovers in a 19-5 win over NEWMAC foe Smith.

The Babson College women’s lacrosse team defeated Smith College 19-5 Saturday afternoon at MacDowell Field in their New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) season opener. The Beavers were led by senior Jess Parker (Cataumet, Mass.) who scored five goals and junior Anna Collins (Winchester, Mass.) who tallied two goals and five assists for seven points on the day. With the win, the 11th ranked Beavers improve to 5-2 overall, 1-0 in the NEWMAC and Smith is now 1-3, 0-1 in the NEWMAC.

11th Ranked Babson Women’s Lacrosse Overpowers Bates, 14-11
The 11th ranked Babson College women’s lacrosse team defeated Bates College 14-11 in a non-conference contest Wednesday evening at MacDowell Field. The Beavers were led by senior tri-captain Jackie Godfrey (Franklin, Mass.) who tallied four goals and two assists. For Bates, senior Caroline Thomas (Barrington, R.I.) had a game high six goals. With the win, Babson improves to 4-2 overall and Bates is now 4-3.

#8 Women's Lacrosse Snaps Skid With 17-12 Win Over Messiah
Juniors Anna Collins and Kaitlyn Pettengill combined for 14 points to lead the eighth-ranked Babson College women's lacrosse team to a 17-12 victory over Messiah College in Florida on Thursday. With the win, the Beavers snap a brief two-game slide to improve to 3-2 on the year. Collins continued her brilliant junior season with another stellar performance on Thursday, scoring a game-high seven goals to go with five groundballs and three draw controls. Pettengill added six goals and one assist for seven points, first-year Trisha Babson chipped in with two goals, one helper, and a team-high five draw controls, and senior captain Jackie Godfrey contributed one goal and two assists in the win. Senior captain Lindsay Bucci rounded out the team's scoring with a goal, and sophomore Sarah Macary finished with eight saves in net.

No. 13 Tufts Surges Past No. 9 Women's Lax, 19-11
No. 13 Tufts University used a huge second half to defeat no. 9 Babson College, 19-11, in a matchup of two of the nation's top women's lacrosse teams on Tuesday night. With the win, the Jumbos remained unbeaten at 4-0, while the Beavers saw their record fall to 2-2. Junior Anna Collins and senior captain Jess Parker each scored three goals for Babson, while senior captain Jackie Godfrey added two goals and four assists for six points. Senior captain Lindsay Bucci also netted a pair of goals, while first-year Erin Daley rounded out the team's offense with one score.

#6 Middlebury Edges #9 Women's Lacrosse, 11-8
In a battle of two of the nation's top 10 teams, sixth-ranked Middlebury held off #9 Babson for an 11-8 win in a non-conference women's lacrosse matchup on Friday afternoon. The Panthers are now 2-0 on the year, while the Beavers suffer their first loss to fall to 2-1. Junior Anna Collins paced Babson with three goals, senior captain Jackie Godfrey added one goal and two assists, and sophomore Sarah Macary posted 11 saves in net.

Collins Named NEWMAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week
Babson College junior Anna Collins (Winchester, Mass.) has been named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women’s lacrosse player of the week. Collins led Babson with 10 goals and one assist for 11 points in a 2-0 week for the 12th-ranked Beavers. She recorded seven goals and one helper in a 22-3 season-opening win over Plymouth State, and then posted three goals, three groundballs, and two caused turnovers in a 17-4 victory over Eastern Connecticut State on Sunday.

#12 Women's Lacrosse Powers Past Eastern Connecticut State, 17-4
Senior tri-captains Lindsay Bucci (Medford, Mass.) and Jackie Godfrey (Franklin, Mass.) recorded six points apiece as the 12th-ranked Babson College women’s lacrosse defeated visiting Eastern Connecticut State University, 17-4, in a non-conference contest at Babson’s MacDowell Field on Sunday afternoon. It was the second straight victory to start the year for the Beavers (2-0), while the Warriors (0-1) fell in their season opener. Bucci led all players with four goals to go with a pair of assists, while Godfrey netted two scores and assisted on four others. Junior Anna Collins (Winchester, Mass.) added three goals for Babson, while senior tri-captain Jess Parker (Cataumet, Mass.), first-year Trisha Babson (Duxbury, Mass.), and first-year Erin Daley (Darien, Conn.) each contributed two scores. Sophomore Sarah Macary (Woodbury, Conn.) played just over 46 minutes in net, finishing with four saves.

Babson Women's Lacrosse Opens 2009 Season With 22-3 Victory Over Plymouth State
The Babson women’s lacrosse team opened up their 2009 season with a 22-3 victory over visiting Plymouth State University on Friday afternoon at MacDowell Field. Babson was led by junior midfielder Anna Collins (Winchester Mass.) who scored seven goals and added one assist. For Babson, ten different players scored. In addition to Collins, junior midfielder Kaitlyn Pettengill (Hopkinton, Mass.) scored four goals and had one assist and first-year Trisha Babson (Duxbury, Mass.) tallied three goals and four assists in her collegiate debut. Senior tri-captian Lindsay Bucci (Medford, Mass.) scored two goals and added one assist. Bridget McCurdy (Weston,Mass), Ellen McCurdy (Weston, Mass.), Jackie Godfrey (Franklin, Mass.), Jess Parker (Cataumet, Mass.), Alyssa Hood (Newport, R.I.), and Marissa Monaco (Quincy, Mass.) all scored one goal in the victory. Babson sophomore Sarah Macary (Woodbury, Conn.) and junior Laura Bronner (Greenwich, Conn.) split the time in goal. Macary made two saves in the first half and shutout the panthers. Bronner had one save in the second half.

Babson Women’s Lacrosse Ranked No. 11 in IWLCA Preseason Poll
The defending two-time New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Champion Babson College women’s lacrosse team has been ranked number 11 in the country by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) in the 2009 preseason poll released at the beginning of the month. The Beavers’ roster boasts a pair of past All-America selections in addition to another first team All New-England honorees and the last three NEWMAC Rookies of the Year.
