Lenaghan's 15 Points Helps Women's Lacrosse Pull Away from Mount Holyoke, 20-9

High-Scoring Senior Sets Single-Season Goals and Points Records as Beavers Finish Conference Play Unbeaten for First Time Since 2016

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass.—Senior Lexi Lenaghan (Hanover, Mass.) finished with eight goals and seven assists for a school-record 15 points as visiting Babson College pulled away for a 20-9 victory over Mount Holyoke College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic (NEWMAC) women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, Babson closes the regular season at 12-5 overall and 8-0 in league play for the first time since 2016. The Beavers will be the top seed in next week's conference tournament. Mount Holyoke sees its season come to an end at 7-9 overall and 2-6 in NEWMAC play.

Lenaghan had a hand in eight of the Beavers' nine first-half goals and set new single-season school records for goals and points in the win. Sophomore Georgia Salvatore (Westwood, Mass.) finished with four goals and two assists, senior Olivia McCahan (Providence, R.I.) scored twice and added two helpers, and sophomore Juliana McGuire (Sparta, N.J.) led all players with 10 draw controls. Classmate Cricket Fligor (Weston, Mass.) made four of her five stops in the second half.

First-year Abby Baldwin (Florence, Mass.) scored four times and senior Deyscha Smith (Boston, Mass.) and first-year Caroline Flynn (Williamstown, Mass.) finished with two goals apiece for the Lyons. Junior Mia Wysocki (Longmeadow, Mass.) made 10 saves and scooped up a game-high eight ground balls in the loss.

Baldwin gave Mount Holyoke a 3-0 lead just over six minutes into the game, and the Green and White trailed 4-1 nearly nine minutes in before the Green and White embarked on a 12-2 run to seize control of the contest. Lenaghan scored twice and set up two other tallies as part of a five-goal run that put the Beavers in front 6-4 at the 16:43 mark, and first-year Coco Creedon (McKinney, Texas) chipped in with a pair of markers late in the first half to extend the lead to 9-6 at the half.

Salvatore converted a free-position chance, Lenaghan set up back-to-back goals and then added consecutive scores to cap the run and push the margin to 14-6 with 19:15 to go in the game. The Lyons scored two of the next three goals to cut their deficit to seven, but the Beavers answered with another four-goal run that included tallies from junior Valerie Quinlan (Norwood, Mass.) and sophomore Caroline Benson (Andover, Mass.) to take their biggest lead of the game at 19-8 with 5:23 to play.

The Green and White outshot Mount Holyoke 40-19 and finished with a 24-7 edge in draw controls.

Babson returns to action on Thursday when it hosts either Coast Guard or Wheaton in a NEWMAC Tournament semifinal at 7 p.m.
