WESTWOOD, Mass.—Babson College senior Lexi Lenaghan (Hanover, Mass.) was selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Lenaghan scored twice in Wednesday's 18-14 win over Wheaton that helped the Beavers clinch a share of its second consecutive regular season league title, and then exploded for a school-record 15 points on eight goals and seven assists in Saturday's 20-9 rout of Mount Holyoke. She had a hand in eight of Babson's nine first-half goals, and finished just two points shy of the highest total by a Division III player this spring.
With her performance on Saturday, Lenaghan reset her own single-season points mark and surpassed the program's previous record of 75 goals set by Anna Collins '10 back in 2009. She has produced 79 goals and 30 assists for 109 points, which is good for ninth in Division III. In addition to the single-season records she also became just the 10th player in school history to surpass 200 career points in Saturday's victory.
Babson (12-5), which went 8-0 in league play to earn the top seed in this week's NEWMAC Tournament, will host either fourth-seeded Coast Guard or fifth-seeded Wheaton in a semifinal contest on Thursday at 4 p.m.
