BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College juniors Maria Bravo (Windermere, Fla.) and Maren Mellen (Duxbury, Mass.) were recognized for their success in the classroom when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released its Academic All-Conference team late last week.
Bravo, who earned her second consecutive academic all-conference honor, started 17 of 18 games and tied for third on the team with 29 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers. Mellen also was named to the squad for the second consecutive season and contributed four ground balls and two caused turnovers while seeing action in 12 contests this spring.
Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2018 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
Babson captured its second consecutive NEWMAC regular season title and ended the season at 13-6 overall following an 11-10 loss to Springfield in the conference tournament final last Saturday.
