Women Place 3rd, Men Finish 4th in Slalom at Crotched Mountain

BENNINGTON, N.H.—The Babson College women's alpine ski team finished third, while the men's team came in fourth in the slalom at Crotched Mountain Resort on Saturday.

Led by first-year Elizabeth Baer's (Salt Lake City, Utah) fifth-place showing, the Beavers posted a team time of 5:32.91 to finish just over four seconds behind second-place Castleton and almost six seconds in back of first-place Brown in the women's race. Sitting in eighth place following her first run, Baer came home with the fourth fastest time in her afternoon run to finish with an overall time of 1:49.84 to finish just 2.51 seconds off the pace.

Junior Tatum Alkier (Collingwood, Ontario) finished a half-second behind Baer in eighth place, while sophomore Olivia Burwell (Manchester Center, Vt.) and senior Kristen Sweeney (Wesport, Conn.) came in 13th and 14th, respectively. Sophomore Teagan Mosenthal (Campton, N.H.) finished in 16th position, while junior Michelle Martin (Belmont, Mass.) placed 18th.

The Babson men were led by first-years Douglas DeLuca (Holderness, N.H.) and Sean Robinson (Reno, Nev.), who were separated by just 0.01 seconds in sixth and seventh place, respectively. DeLuca moved up 10 spots on his second run to finish with an overall time of 1:49.61 as the Beavers, who finished less than three seconds behind Connecticut in the team stands, also came in behind Clarkson and Castleton on a tightly-packed team leaderboard.

First-year MacIntyre Henderson (Salt Lake City, Utah) came in less than a half-second behind Robinson in 11th position, junior T.J. Pope (Bountiful, Utah) placed 22nd and senior Ben Greenspan (Chappaqua, N.Y.) finished 36th for the Green and White.

Babson returns to action on Sunday morning when it returns to Crotched Mountain for its final giant slalom race of the regular season.
