Women Finish 3rd, Men 6th in Opening Slalom Race at Blackwater/Proctor

ANDOVER, N.H.—Led by a third-place result by first-year Elizabeth Baer (Salt Lake City, Utah), the Babson College women's alpine ski team finish third in the slalom at Blackwater/Proctor Ski Area on Saturday. The Beavers, who had just three of five skiers complete two runs, came in sixth in the men's slalom.

Baer posted the second fastest first run and posted a total time of 1:33.60 to record her second consecutive podium finish. Junior Tatum Alkier (Collingwood, Ontario) came in 10th with a time of 1:35.42, while senior Kristen Sweeney (Westport, Conn.) finished less than a second behind her in 14th position.

Junior Michelle Martin (Belmont, Mass.) and sophomore Teagan Mosenthal (Campton, N.H.) crossed the finish line just 1.03 seconds apart in 16th and 19th place, respectively. The Beavers, who finished behind Brown and Castleton, enter Sunday's MacConnell Division finale with a one-point lead over the Spartans for second place.

On the men's side, first-year MacIntyre Henderson (Park City, Utah) put together a pair of strong runs to post his fourth podium finish of the year as he came in third with a time of 1:36.28. Classmate Douglas DeLuca (Holderness, N.H.) recorded a 26th-place showing, while senior Max Barber (Cape Elizbeth, Maine) was right behind him in 27th position.

Both first-year Sean Robinson (Reno, Nev.) and junior T.J. Pope (Bountiful, Utah) failed to complete their second runs.

Babson will return to Blackwater/Proctor Ski Area on Saturday for it final slalom race of the  regular season beginning at 9:30 a.m.
