QUEENSBURY, N.Y.—The Babson College women's alpine ski team got three straight top-five finishes from sophomore Elizabeth Baer (Salt Lake City, Utah), which included her first career victory, over the weekend at West Mountain. The Beavers came in second and third in a pair of slalom races on Saturday and were the runner-up in Sunday's giant slalom.
Baer came in second overall and senior Michelle Martin (Belmont, Mass.) was less than four seconds behind her in fifth position to help the Green and White finish third in the Saturday morning slalom. Junior Olivia Burwell (Manchester Center, Vt.) placed 13th, while senior Alexis Kane (North Syracuse, N.Y.) posted the top finish of her career by coming in 21st overall.
In the Saturday evening slalom, Baer came in fifth and the duo of senior Tatum Alkier (Collingwood, Ontario) and Burwell finished just 0.24 seconds apart in 10th and 11th position to help Babson come in second. Kane added a 22nd-place finish, while Martin was unable to finish her second run.
The Beavers wrapped up the weekend with a second-place finish in their final GS race of the season, which was highlighted by Baer's victory. Martin came in fifth overall, while Alkier finished in eighth position. Burwell and Kane came in 17th and 31st, respectively.
Babson wraps up its MacConnell Division regular season schedule with a pair of slalom races at Proctor Ski Area beginning on Saturday.
