BENNINGTON, N.H.—Three different skiers recorded a top-10 result to help the Babson College women's alpine ski team finish second and fourth in a pair of slalom races at Crotched Mountain on Friday.
Castleton, which won both races, edged out the Beavers in the morning competition, while the Spartans, UConn and St. Anselm finished ahead of the Green and White in the day's second race.
Sophomore Sarah Mangiacotti (South Londonderry, Vt.) was fourth in the opening race of the day, and first-year Julia Martin (Belmont, Mass.) finished a little over four seconds behind her to place eighth overall. Junior Elizabeth Baer (Salt Lake City, Utah) came in 12th, senior Olivia Burwell (Manchester Center, Vt.) finished 16th, and first-year Kendall Sargis (Duxbury, Mass.) posted a 40th-place result.
Bear was Babson's top finish in the afternoon race as she came in eighth with a pair of solid runs. Burwell finished 13th, Martin ended in 26th position and Sargis had a strong second run to move up to 31st position.
The Beavers return to action next Saturday when they travel to Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, N.Y., for two days of giant slalom competition.
