Festa Garners All-Region Women's Soccer Honors
In addition to earning New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference First Team Honors, Babson first-year Amy Festa (Medfield, Mass.) has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III All-New England First Team as well as the New England Women’s Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) All-New England Division III First Team. Festa is also only the second rookie in program history to earn NSCAA All-Region honors since Toni Pantuosco '05 did it in her freshman campaign in 2001.

Babson Athletes Give Back This Fall
This fall the Babson athletic teams not only performed on the field and in the classroom, but they also gave back to the community in many different ways. Several teams participated in community service events that benefited many organizations including the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, and the Jimmy Fund. “I’m extremely proud of everything our athletes have done and continue to do within the community,” said Director of Athletics Josh MacArthur. “These young men and women have tremendous demands on their time and energy, and yet they still make the effort to give back in whatever way they can. They genuinely thrive on touching the lives of others, and in doing so they serve as wonderful ambassadors for Babson College and our athletics program.”

NEWMAC Releases Fall All-Academic Teams; 12 Beavers Honored
The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has officially announced its fall Academic All-Conference Teams, and a total of 13 Babson College athletes were recognized. Representing the Beavers with All-Academic honors were senior Kristen Lang (Kennebunk, Maine), sophomore Wendy Glickenhouse (Red Hook, N.Y.), sophomore Kyle Fitzpatrick (Toledo, Ohio), and sophomore Mike Smith (Brockton, Mass.) of cross country; senior Emiley Cohen (West Grove, Pa.), senior Alyssa L'Bassi (Shrewsbury, Mass.), and junior Colleen Kelly (Milton, Mass.) of field hockey; seniors Dan Fogarty (Brookeline, N.H.) and Sean Gleason (Clinton, N.Y.) of men's soccer; junior Katy Alea (Southborough, Mass.), junior Laura Duston (Nashua, N.H.), and sophomore Alexa Untermann (Honolulu, Hawaii) of volleyball; and junior Kristy Benoit (Shrewsbury, Mass.) of women's soccer.

Festa Named To NEWMAC All-Conference First Team
The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its postseason awards on Tuesday, and first-year midfielder Amy Festa (Medfield, Mass.) was named to the All-Conference First Team. Starting all 20 of Babson's games this fall, Festa led the Beavers with 11 goals and four assists for 26 points. She ranked fourth in the NEWMAC in both goals and points, and her 14 points in conference play tied for the league lead. Festa was also one of three players on Babson to register two game-winning goals this year.

Women's Soccer Falls To Wheaton, 2-1, In NEWMAC Quarterfinals
Sophomore Emily Vincunas' first marker of the season, with 10:01 remaining, snapped a tie and lifted the second-seeded Wheaton College women's soccer team past number-seven Babson College, 2-1 during a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament quarterfinal contest on Saturday in Mirrione Stadium. Wheaton improved to 17-2-2, while the Beavers saw their season come to a clost at 11-8-1. Freshman Amy Festa (Medfield, MA/Medfield) provided the lone marker for the Beavers, and junior Sarah Macary (Woodbury, CT/The Gunnery) made two saves in net.

Women's Soccer Falls to WPI, 3-1
Hailey Taylor (Colusa, CA) notched a goal and an assist to lift host WPI to a 3-1 upset over regionally ranked Babson in the NEWMAC women’s soccer finale for both teams on Tuesday evening. With the win, WPI improves its record to 8-10 overall and 4-5 in conference play. Babson dips to 11-7-1 on the season and 4-5 in NEWMAC action.

Women's Soccer Thumps Coast Guard, 8-0
First year Amy Festa (Medfield, Mass.) had three goals while junior Kristy Benoit (Shrewsbury, Mass.) had a goal and two assists leading Babson to a 8-0 win over Coast Guard in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game. Babson outshot the Bears 26-2. Senior goalkeeper Sam Scarpato (Weston, Mass.) did not need to make a save to pick up her second win and first shutout of the season. Babson continues play on Tuesday when they visit WPI for a 7pm NEWMAC contest to finish out the regular season.

Wellesley Tips Women's Soccer, 1-0, In Double Overtime
First-year Megan Turchi scored the game-winning goal with 6:24 left in the second overtime period to lift the visiting Wellesley College Blue to a 1-0 victory over host Babson College in a NEWMAC women’s soccer contest at Hartwell-Rogers Field on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, Wellesley remains in the hunt for the regular season conference title at 7-5-2 overall and 5-1-1 in league play, while the Beavers, ranked sixth in New England in the most recent NSCAA regional poll, fall to 10-6-1 overall and 3-4-0 in the NEWMAC. Both teams struggled to generate scoring chances in regulation, as they combined for just six total shots on net in the first 90 minutes. Junior keeper Sarah Macary (Woodbury, Conn.) made three of her four saves in the regulation periods for Babson, which held an 11-8 shot advantage during that time, while Wellesley senior goalie Katie Martore (Great Falls, Va.) turned away three shots as well.

Second Half Surge Leads Women's Soccer Past Mount Holyoke, 3-2
The Babson College women’s soccer team scored three second-half goals to overcome an early 1-0 deficit en route to an eventual 3-2 victory over visiting Mount Holyoke College in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest at Hartwell-Rogers Field on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Beavers, ranked sixth in the region by the NSCAA, improved to 10-5-1 overall and 3-3 in the conference, while the Lyons dipped to 2-11 overall and 1-5 in the NEWMAC.

Wheaton Slips Past Women's Soccer, 1-0, In Overtime
Wheaton College netted the game's only goal just over a minute into overtime as the Lyons edged the Babson College women's soccer team, 1-0, in a showdown of New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foes on Tuesday afternoon. The Lyons, who are ranked fifth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's (NSCAA) New England poll, improved to 13-2 overall and 4-1 in the league behind their 10th shutout of the season. The Beavers, who are tied for sixth in the region, slipped to 9-5-1 and 2-3.

Clark senior Jess Mirkin (Wellesley, Mass.) banged home a loose ball in front of the net just 2:41 into the contest as the host Cougars blanked visiting Babson, 1-0 on Saturday afternoon on Granger Soccer Field. The loss snaps the Beavers three game win streak and drops their overall record to 9-4-1 and 2-2 in the NEWMAC.

Women's Soccer Keeps Rolling With 3-1 Win Over MIT
First-year Amy Festa (Medfield, Mass.) recorded one goal and one assist to lead the Babson College women’s soccer team to a 3-1 victory over visiting MIT in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) showdown at Hartwell-Rogers Field on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Beavers, ranked sixth in New England by the NSCAA, improved to 9-3-1 overall and 2-1-0 in the conference, while the Engineers fell to 5-4-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the NEWMAC. Babson took a 1-0 lead just over nine minutes into the contest, as first-year Ashley Tourso (Glen Rock, N.J.) took a cross from junior Patty Pytlik (Wellesley, Mass.) on the right side of the box and lifted a shot over MIT goalie Meghan Wright (Devon, Pa.) for her fifth goal of the season at 9:16. The Beavers then added another goal 16 minutes later, as sophomore Annie Kenney (Weston, Mass.) tucked a rebound of Festa’s shot over the goal line for her first score of the year at 25:16.

Macary Named NEWMAC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week
Babson College junior Sarah Macary has been named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women’s soccer player of the week. This marks the first award of the season for the goalkeeper. This past week Macary went 2-0 with two shutouts, a 1.000 save percentage, and a 0.00 goals against average in a 2-0 week for Babson. On Tuesday, she made eight saves in 90 minutes to lead the Beavers to a 1-0 victory over regional power Tufts. She then turned away two more shots in a 1-0 win at Smith on Saturday. For the week, Macary stopped all 10 shots on net that she faced in 180 minutes of play.

Women's Soccer Edges Smith, 1-0
The Beavers of Babson College defeated the Smith College Pioneers, 1-0 in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest this rainy Saturday afternoon. With the loss, Smith drops to 1-7-1 overall, 0-1-1 in the NEWMAC while the Beavers improve to 8-3-1 on the season and earn their first NEWMAC win to improve to 1-1 in the conference. Babson's lone goal came from junior Ellen McCurdy (Weston, Mass.) in the 11th minute. Babson outshot Smith 15-3, and 10-0 in the first half. The Beavers also had a 9-2 corner advantage. Junior goalkeeper Sarah Macary (Woodbury, Mass.) played the full 90 minutes in net for the Beavers making two saves on the day.

Women's Soccer Denies Tufts, 1-0
Junior Kristy Benoit (Shrewsbury, Mass.) scored the game’s only goal less than two minutes in and junior goalie Sarah Macary (Woodbury, Conn.) made eight saves in net as the Babson College Beavers defeated the visiting Tufts University Jumbos, 1-0, in a non-conference women’s soccer contest at Hartwell-Rogers Field on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, Babson, ranked sixth in New England by the NSCAA, improved to 7-3-1 overall, while Tufts slipped to 3-3-0. The Beavers wasted little time in taking the lead, as sophomore Annie Kenney (Weston, Mass.) hit a perfect thru ball up the middle to Benoit. The junior striker then broke in all alone and chipped a shot over the head of Tufts’ senior keeper Kate Minnehan (Hopkinton, N.H.) and into the back right corner for the game’s only goal at 1:52.

#22 Springfield Escapes With 2-1 Win Over Women's Soccer
The nationally-ranked Springfield College women’s soccer team scored two first-half goals and then withstood a late Babson College comeback attempt as the Pride held on for a 2-1 victory over the Beavers in a NEWMAC contest at Hartwell-Rogers Field on Saturday afternoon. Ranked 22nd in the most recent NSCAA national poll, Springfield improves to 5-2-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the conference, while Babson sees its six-game unbeaten streak come to an end to fall to 6-3-1 overall and 0-1-0 in the NEWMAC. First-year Ashley Tourso (Glen Rock, N.J.) scored the lone goal for the Beavers, while junior goalie Sarah Macary (Woodbury, Conn.) made two saves in net.

Babson College (6-2-1) defeated Saint Joseph’s (3-2-1, 3-0-1 GNAC), 2-0, in a non-conference women’s soccer match on Wednesday afternoon at Westerlea Way Field. The Beavers, ranked sixth in the latest NSCAA New England Region Poll, received goals from first-years Amy Festa and Ashley Tourso two minutes apart late in the game to secure the victory.

Women's Soccer Battles Bates to 0-0 Tie
BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Babson College Beavers and Bates College Bobcats played to a 0-0 double-overtime tie in a non-conference women’s soccer match at Hartwell-Rogers Field on Saturday afternoon. With the deadlock, the Beavers move to 5-2-1 overall while the Bobcats are now 1-1-1. Macary finished with three saves for the Beavers, who held a commanding 27-8 shot advantage in the contest. Babson also received stellar efforts from its backfield, including several clutch plays by senior captain Kayla Pomponi (Belmont, Mass.), senior captain Jacky Mozzicato (Acton, Mass.), and first-year Nichole Vargas (Warren, R.I.).

Second-Half Surge Sends Women's Soccer Past Emmanuel, 3-1
Junior Patty Pytlik, first-year Amy Festa, and first-year Ashley Tourso each scored goals as the Babson College women's soccer team defeated host Emmanuel College, 3-1, in a non-conference contest in Boston on Thursday night. With their fourth straight win, the Beavers improved to 5-2 on the year, while the Saints fell to 3-3. Junior goalie Sarah Macary went the distance in net and made two saves for Babson, which rallied from a 1-0 deficit in the contest.

Women's Soccer Notches Third Straight Shutout With 2-0 Win At Framingham State
The Babson College women's soccer team recorded its third consecutive shutout with a 2-0 victory at Framingham State on Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore Lauren Clement scored her first goal of the season for the Beavers, while first-year Emily Anderson added her first collegiate score. Babson has now gone over 276 straight minutes without allowing a goal.

First-Years Lead Women’s Soccer to 3-0 Win Over Bridgewater State
BABSON PARK, Mass. – Babson College first-year Amy Festa (Medfield, Mass.) scored two goals on two free kicks to lead the Beavers in a 3-0 win over visiting Bridgewater State College on Saturday morning. With the win the Beavers improve to 3-2-0 overall and Bridgewater falls to 1-1-1. Babson finished with 13 total shots and the Bears had six. The Beavers will visit Framingham State College on Tuesday for a 4:00pm game and Bridgewater will also play Tuesday when they visit Brandeis University.

Junior Patty Pytlik (Wellesley, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal with just under 20 minutes remaining in regulation to lead the host Babson College Beavers to a 1-0 win over visiting Brandeis University Judges in a non-conference women's soccer contest at Hartwell-Rogers Field on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Beavers evened their record at 2-2 on the year, while the Judges fell for the first time to drop to 2-1.

University of Chicago senior midfielder Claire Gill (Los Altos Hills, Calif.) and sophomore forward Allison Hegel (Vienna, Va.) each scored a pair of goals as the 16th-ranked University of Chicago women's soccer team defeated Babson College 5-1 Saturday in the Beavers second and final game of their Chicago trip. Babson's only goal was scored by junior Kristy Benoit (Shrewsbury, Mass.).With the loss, Babson drops to 1-2 overall and Chicago is now 2-0

Women's Soccer Falls to Aurora 3-2
The Babson College women’s soccer team fell to Aurora University 3-2 on Friday evening in their first of two games in Chicago. For Babson, junior Patty Pytlik (Wellesley, Mass.) scored the two lone goals for the Beavers. Aurora University’s Haley Pschirrer also tallied two goals as she helped lead the Spartans to a victory in a closely contested match. With the win, Aurora is now 1-1 and the Beavers drop to 1-1. The Beavers play The University of Chicago Saturday in a 1:00 pm (ET) game.

Women's Soccer Kicks Off 2009 With 2-0 Win At Endicott
The Babson College women's soccer team opened its 2009 campaign with a 2-0 victory at Endicott College on Tuesday night. The Beavers outshot the Gulls at a lopsided clip of 17-7 and scored a single goal in both the first and second half en route to the win. Sophomore Bridget McCurdy (Weston, Mass.) and junior Patty Pytlik (Wellesley, Mass.) each scored goals for the Beavers, while senior captain Sam Scarpato (Weston, Mass.) and junior Sarah Macary (Woodbury, Conn.) combined to secure the shutout in net.

2009-10 Season Preview: Women's Soccer
After posting a 10-4-6 record last fall, the Babson College women’s soccer team is hoping to notch its third straight double-digit win season and challenge for the NEWMAC title again in 2009-10. The biggest challenge facing fifth-year head coach Sarah Dacey’s squad will be replacing its four players lost to graduation, including All-New England honoree Jackie Graham ’08, who netted seven of the team’s 10 game-winning goals a year ago. Anchoring the Beavers this fall will be senior captains Kayla Pomponi (Belmont, Mass.), Sam Scarpato (Weston, Mass.), Jacky Mozzicato (Acton, Mass.), and Melissa Cronin (Winchester, Mass.).
