WESTWOOD, Mass.—Babson College senior Jessica Fernandes (Pawtucket, R.I.) and first-year Katelyn Korzec (Whitman, Mass.) were both honored when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its women's soccer all-conference selections on Wednesday afternoon.
Fernandes was named to the All-NEWMAC first team, while Korzec garnered second-team laurels.
Fernandes collected the second all-conference honor of her career and was named to the first team for the first time after matching her career highs with nine goals and three assists for 21 points in just 14 matches. She scored six times in league play and ranked eighth overall in goals and tied for 10th in points on the year.
In 72 career matches, Fernandes ranks eighth in program history in goals (28) and is tied for eighth all-time with 68 points.
Korzec started 16 of 17 games as a holding midfielder for the Beavers and tied for fourth on the team in scoring with two goals and two assists for six points. She becomes one of just four Babson players over the last decade to earn NEWMAC all-conference honors as rookie.
The Beavers wrapped up the 2018 campaign at 7-10-2 after suffering a 1-0 loss to Emerson in the conference tournament quarterfinals on October 30.
