Fernandes Earns NEWISA First-Team Honors

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College senior Jessica Fernandes (Pawtucket, R.I.) added to her postseason awards haul when she was named to the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) first team earlier this week.

The honor is the first for Fernandes, who became the Beavers' first NEWISA team representative since current assistant coach Jessica DiPhilippo back in 2014. She is also the first to be named to the All-NEWISA first team since Amy Festa '13 in 2012.

Fernandes matched the top scoring totals of her career with nine goals and three assists for 21 points in just 14 matches this past fall. Entering the season with just one career brace, she produced three two-goal games and led the team in scoring for the third time in four years.

A two-time All-New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) selection, Fernandes scored 28 goals and recorded 12 assists for 68 points in 72 career matches. She ranks eighth on the program's all-time list in goals and is tied with DiPhilippo on Babson's career points list.
