WESTWOOD, Mass.—Babson College sophomores Morgan Headrick (Toronto, Ontario) and Deanna Ruggiero (Peabody, Mass.) were both recognized for their work in the classroom for the first time when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released its Academic All-Conference team late last week.
Ruggiero appeared in five matches off the bench as a forward and scored her first collegiate goal in the Beavers' loss at Springfield on October 16. Headrick made 10 starts in a holding midfield role helping the Green and White go 9-5-1 in the 15 matches she appeared in this fall.
In order to be eligible for NEWMAC Academic All-Conference consideration, honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2018 spring semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
Babson, which finished the season at 9-9-2, upset second-seeded Coast Guard in the NEWMAC quarterfinals before falling to WPI in a semifinal contest last Thursday.
