Babson Athletes Give Back This Fall
This fall the Babson athletic teams not only performed on the field and in the classroom, but they also gave back to the community in many different ways. Several teams participated in community service events that benefited many organizations including the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, and the Jimmy Fund. “I’m extremely proud of everything our athletes have done and continue to do within the community,” said Director of Athletics Josh MacArthur. “These young men and women have tremendous demands on their time and energy, and yet they still make the effort to give back in whatever way they can. They genuinely thrive on touching the lives of others, and in doing so they serve as wonderful ambassadors for Babson College and our athletics program.”

Lazar, Lotito Join Babson Softball Coaching Staff
Babson College has hired two new assistant softball coaches, head coach Dave Canan announced recently. Joining Canan's staff for the 2009-10 season will be former Babson great Alex Lazar '07 and recent Boston University graduate Shayne Lotito. Lazar returns to the program two years removed from a tremendous playing career in which she helped guide the Beavers to their most successful stretch ever. During her four years at Babson Park, the Beavers posted an incredible 156-54-1 mark while winning back-to-back NEWMAC Championships and hosting the NCAA Division III Tournament New England Regional in 2005 and 2006. A career .302 hitter, Lazar ranks second on Babson's career lists in doubles (41) and RBIs (100) while also ranking among the top 10 in hits, home runs, triples, runs, total bases, and stolen bases. Lotito comes to Babson from nearby BU, where she also enjoyed a standout career. She graduated this past spring as the Terriers' all-time leader in at bats (712), stolen bases (93) and runs (150) while ranking fourth in career average (.325) and fifth in hits (168).
