BOSTON--Babson College senior pitcher Kathleen Conway (Simsbury, Conn.) was tabbed as a first-team All-New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) selection for the second consecutive season when the league announced its annual postseason awards on Tuesday afternoon.
Conway, who was the NEWMAC Pitcher of the Year and a first-team selection in 2013, posted a 12-8 record and a 1.95 ERA this spring. She struck out 140 batters in 129 1/3 innings of work, while tossing 13 complete games and holding opponents to just a .216 batting average. Conway led the league in strikeouts, was second in batting average against, fifth in complete games and sixth in wins among NEWMAC hurlers this season.
After transferring from the University of Delaware prior to the 2013 season, Conway has left her mark as one of the best pitchers in program history over the last two years. She is ranks first all-time in ERA (1.41), saves (5), strikeout-to-walk ratio (6.40) and strikeouts per seven innings (8.49). She ranks second all-time with 397 strikeouts over 327 innings pitched, and winning percentage (.694) with a record of 34-15 to go along with 34 complete games and 10 shutouts in 48 starts. Conway also earned both National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-New England and All-America honors in 2013.
