LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Coming off the first NCAA super regional appearance in program history, the Babson College softball team is ranked 25th in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III preseason poll.
Ranked for the first time to begin the season since 2014, the Beavers return 16 players from a team that finished the season at 33-16 after falling to Williams, 2-1, in a best-of-three super regional series. The Green and White won three straight elimination games to capture its first New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament championship since 2006, and followed it up with three more elimination-game victories to claim the NCAA Tournament Babson Park Regional title.
Babson, which recorded its most wins since 2013 last spring, is one of just three teams from New England to appear in the poll along with Williams (4th) and Amherst (7th).
The Beavers open the 2018 campaign at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Tucson, Arizona, on March 2, where they will face five ranked opponents in a stretch of six games over three days.
