WESTWOOD, Mass.—Babson College juniors Jacqueline Paul (Burlington, N.J.) and Brooke Stock (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) were both recognized when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released its weekly awards on Tuesday afternoon. Paul was selected as the league's offensive co-player of the week, while Stock collected pitcher of the week honors.
Paul went 7-for-13 at the plate (.538), had a .650 OBP and finished with two doubles, a home run and 10 RBI in a 5-1 week for the Beavers. She recorded three multi-hit games and drove in at least two runs in four of six outings.
Paul reached base four times and drove in three runs as the Beavers split a doubleheader with Tufts on Wednesday, and followed it up by going 4-for-5 with a double, a homer, five RBI and three runs scored in Friday's sweep of Wheaton. She capped the week with two more hits, three walks and two RBI as Babson defeated Emerson on Saturday to clinch a NEWMAC Tournament berth.
Stock went 2-1 with two saves, a 1.57 ERA and 23 strikeouts against just four walks in 22.1 innings pitched for the Green and White. Her numbers were even better against NEWMAC foes as she finished 2-0 with two saves and 0.91 ERA.
Following a complete-game loss to Tufts on Wednesday, Stock tossed seven shutout innings against Wheaton allowing just four hits while striking out nine to pick up the win in the opener and the save in game two. She fanned seven in a complete-game 4-2 victory over in the opener against Emerson on Saturday, and then came back to record the final four outs to claim her fourth save of the year as the Beavers edged the Lions, 6-4.
Babson (16-10, 11-3 NEWMAC) returns to action on Wednesday when it wraps up an eight-game home stand with a doubleheader against Framingham State beginning at 3 p.m. at Alumni Field.
