Two More Records Fall on Day Two of NEWMAC Championships


DAY 2 RESULTS

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Two more Babson College women's swimming and diving records fell on day two of the NEWMAC Championships at MIT, as the Beavers remained in eighth place with one day remaining.

One day after breaking Babson's 400 medley relay record, the quartert of first-year Mallory Mosk (San clemente, Calif.), first-year Nikita Nadkarni (North Brunswick, N.J.), sophomore Mia Filippini (Lake Forest, Ill.), and first-year Sara Martinek (Riverside, Ill.) surpassed another program mark on Saturday, placing sixth overall with a time of 1:54.30 in the 200 medley relay. Mosk also made history in the 400 individual medley, where she eclipsed program great Meg Lynch's record of 4:54.38 by nearly four seconds when she finished fifth overall with a time of 4:50.47.

The Beavers' other top performances on day two included Nadkarni's ninth-place effort in the 100 breast, Filippini's 12th-place finish in the 100 fly, and Martinek's 14th-place effort in the 200 freestyle. Senior Sabrina List (Red Bank, N.J.) placed 14th in the 400 IM and 23rd in the 100 back, and first-year Meaghan Rohde (St. Paul, Minn.) took 24th in the 200 free while joining Martinek, Nadkarni, and Mosk on Babson's ninth-place 800 free relay team.

Other individual Babson competitors on Saturday included first-year Julia Frenette (Burlington, Vt.), who placed 23rd in the 100 breast, sophomore Christina Stone (Haverhill, Mass.), who finished 24th in the 100 back, senior Claudia Gutierrez (Rego Park, N.Y.), who took 31st in the 100 back, sophomore Katelynn Conlon (Stoneham, Mass.), who placed 49th in the 200 free, and senior co-captain Shirley Wong (Malden, Mass.), who came in 51st in the 200 free. Stone, Bishop, Frenette, and first-year Chandra Kelley (Natick, Mass.) also teamed up to finish 18th in the 200 medley relay, while Frenette, Wong, Conlon, and List placed 18th in the 800 free relay.
