Swimming and Diving Teams Fall To MIT, Bowdoin In Tri-Meet

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The Babson College swimming and diving teams traveled to Maine on Saturday, where the Beavers dropped both ends of a tri-meet with MIT and host Bowdoin College. The men fell to MIT, 226-69, and Bowdoin, 185-99, while the women lost to MIT, 254-44, and Bowdoin, 215-75.
Leading the Babson men was the diving duo of senior Aaron Paradis and sophomore Ryan Pope, who finished 1-2 in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. Paradis finished first off the 1-meter board with a score of 266.75 and in the 3-meter board with a total of 274.85. Meanwhile, Pope was right behind his teammate in both events, posting a 189.50 in the 1-meter and a 164.30 in the 3-meter.
Other highlights for the men included fourth-place finishes by first-year Edvard Arnet in the 200 free, first-year Greg Bissett in the 100 free, first-year David Yoon in the 200 fly, and sophomore Tom Foutsitzis in the 100 fly. Bissett also added a fifth-place effort in the 200 free, while senior Ted Plaisted took fifth in the 100 back. The Beavers also received a fifth-place performance from its 200 medley relay team, comprised of Plaisted, Pope, Foutsitzis, and Bissett.
On the women's side, Babson received fifth-place swims by sophomore Nikita Nadkarni in the 200 fly and first-year Keira Yeager in the 200 breaststroke. First-year Nevart Varadian also placed fifth in the 1-meter diving event, and the 400 free relay team of sophomore Brittany Bishop, first-year Hannah Powell, sophomore Meaghan Rohde, and sophomore Sara Martinek finished fifth as well.
