Swimming & Diving Splits Dual Meet Against Clark

BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College men's and women's swimming & diving teams combined to win 19 events in Saturday's dual meet against visiting Clark University at Morse Pool. The Beaver men defeated the Cougars, 161-69, while the women fell 142-95.

The Green and White won all 14 swimming events in the men's half of the meet and got multiple victories from five different athletes. Senior Anton Pronichenko (Palisades, Calif.) won the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke and was second in the 50-yard freestyle, while classmate Kevin Shivers (Mercersburg, Pa.) touched the wall first in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke to go along with a runner-up showing in the 100-yard butterfly.

Junior Mitchell Posk (Boynton Beach, Fla.) won both the 100- and 200-yard freestyle and events while also coming in second in the 50 free. Classmate Alex Grant (St. Petersburg, Fla.) was victorious in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly, and first-year Jack Lucero (Huntington Beach, Calif.) took home wins in the 500- and 1000-yard freestyle along with a second-place result in the 200 butterfly.

First-years Alex Damiecki (Centerville, Mass.) and Michael Cerny (Windsor, Conn.) won the 50 free and 100 butterfly, respectively, while junior Ross Ojerholm (Worcester, Mass.) contributed a second-place finish in the 100 free. Sophomore Adam Kershner (Scottsdale, Ariz.) came in second in the 200-yard backstroke and classmate Kenneth Mun (Hacienda Heights, Calif.) was third in both the 100 breaststroke and 500 free.

The Babson women got victories from three different competitors and posted six runner-up finishes along their five event wins. First-year Tirza Rentovich (Harrisburg, Pa.) came in first in both the 50 free and 100 free, and also finished second in the 200 butterfly.

Senior Paris Ekman (Fargo, N.D.) won both the 1- and 3-meter diving events, while sophomore Tessa Amoroso (Rowley, Mass.) came in second on both boards. Sophomore Maria Orive (Guatemala City, Guatemala) also claimed her first win of the year in the 500-yard freestyle, and added a second-place finish in the 200 free.

Senior Madeline Dupre (Fiskdale, Mass.) came in second in the 1000 free and third in the 400-yard individual medley, while sophomore Olivia Gilbert (Portland, Maine) was second in the 100 backstroke. First-year Cassandra Collins (Branford, Conn.) came in third in both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke, and senior Mallory Ham (Norwalk, Conn.) added a third-place result in the 100 free.

Babson will return to action on December 2 when it opens competition at the three-day WPI Gompei Invitational in Worcester at 6 p.m.
