Women's Swimming & Diving Picked Seventh in NEWMAC Preseason Poll

WESTWOOD, Mass.—The Babson College women's swimming & diving team was tabbed to finish seventh when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released its preseason coaches' poll on Wednesday morning.

Nine-time defending champions MIT took home nine of 10 first-place votes to finish well ahead of second-place Wheaton College, which earned the only other first-place vote. Coast Guard Academy came in third, while Springfield College and WPI were tabbed to finish fourth and fifth, respectively.

Fourth-year head coach Kristy Martin Jones brings back six swimmers from a squad that won eight dual meets to finish one victory shy of the school record last winter. The Beavers set new school records in four events and totaled 272 points, their most since 2005, on the way to finishing seventh at the NEWMAC Championships for the first time since 2012.

Babson opens the 2019-20 season with a dual meet at UMass Dartmouth on Friday at 4 p.m.
