WESTWOOD, Mass.—Four members of the Babson College women's swimming & diving team were recognized when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its weekly award winners on Monday afternoon.
Sophomore Abigail Voce (Oxford, N.Y.) was selected as the NEWMAC Swimmer of the Week, and joined senior Tirza Rentovich (Harrisburg, Pa.), sophomore Elizabeth Demoine (Avon-by-the-Sea, N.J.) and first-year Madeleine Green (Rye Beach, N.H.) to earn the league's relay team of the week honor.
Voce claimed first place in her two individual events as Babson defeated Clark, 117-88, in dual meet action on Saturday. She won the 100-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 54.94 and then recorded her top time of the year (2:06.74) to win the 200 free.
The quartet of Voce, Rentovich, Demoine and Green opened the meet with a time of 1:53.81 in the 200-yard medley relay to finish ahead of the Cougars' top team by more than seven seconds.
Babson, which is 7-1 in dual meet competition, wraps up the semester with the three-day Gompei Invitational at WPI beginning on December 6.
