Swimming & Diving Splits Dual Meet at Wheaton

Men Defeat Lyons for Third Consecutive Season, Earn Eighth Dual Meet Win

NORTON, Mass.—The Babson College swimming & diving teams competed for the second time in as many days on Saturday, splitting a dual meet with Wheaton College inside Balfour Natatorium. The men defeated the Lyons for the third year in a row, 160-110, while the Beavers suffered a 183-88 in the women's half of the meet.

The Babson men (8-1) took first place in 12 of 16 events and got multiple individual victories from senior Alex Damiecki (Centerville, Mass.), sophomore Aaron Huynh (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and first-year Charles Wang (San Marino, Calif.). Damiecki finished ahead of the pack in the 50- and 100-yard butterfly, Huynh claimed first place in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle, and Wang won both the 200 free and 400-yard individual medley for the Beavers.

Senior Jack Lucero (Huntington Beach, Calif.) came in first in the 1000 free, junior Kevin Luu (Malden, Mass.) won the 50 backstroke, and first-years Alvin Oentoro (Houston, Texas) and John Arsenault (Danvers, Mass.) were victorious in the 500 free and 1-meter diving events, respectively. The Green and White also took first place in both the 200 free and 200 medley relays.

Huynh (50 butterfly), Wang (100 breast), Oentoro (200 free) and Luu (100 back) each recorded one runner-up finish, while junior Lachlan Dibbayawan (Bangkok, Thailand) came in second in the 50 breaststroke. First-year Mark Fanelli (La Cañada, Calif.) posted third-place finishes in the 100 back, 1000 free and 400 IM, and junior Aidan Asuncion-Duong (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) came in fourth in three different events.

Additionally, first-years Adrien Marcos (Zurich, Switzerland) and Benjamin Wei (Taipei, Taiwan) finished fourth in the 50 backstroke and 50 breaststroke, respectively.

On the women's side, first-year Madeleine Green (Rye Beach, N.H.) touched the wall first in the 50 backstroke and sophomore Elizabeth Demoine (Avon-by-the-Sea, N.J.) won the 50-yard butterfly. Demoine also part of a victory along with senior Tirza Rentovich (Harrisburg, Pa.), sophomore Abigail Voce (Oxford, N.Y.) and first-year Caitlin Caron (Cheshire, Conn.) in the 200 free relay for Babson (7-4).

Demoine came in second in the 100 butterfly, Caron was the runner-up in the 500 free and Voce added a second-place showing in the 50 free. First-year Angela Li (Belmont, Mass.) placed second in the 400 IM and also came in fourth in both the 200 free and 100 breast.

Rentovich came in third in the 50 breast and 100 free, while Voce and Caron finished third in the 100 free and 200 free, respectively. First-year Molly Cox (Orange, Conn.) also placed third in the 100 backstroke.

Babson returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Bentley at 6 p.m. inside Morse Pool.
