THE SERIES: Babson and Roger Williams will meet for the 10th time on Friday afternoon as both teams open up the 2013 season. The Beavers have won all nine previous meetings dating back to 2004, including a pair of 9-0 wins in each of the last two years.

LAST MEETING: Current senior Sarah Whitaker, juniors Alex Freeman and Alexis Ferraro, and first-year Tori Paolino all picked up wins in both doubles and singles play helping the Green and White top Roger Williams 9-0 on September 1, 2012 in Babson Park.

SCOUTING THE HAWKS: Roger Williams closed the 2012 season at 10-8, advancing to the CCC semifinals for the second straight season. Senior Samantha Curran won 11 singles matches last season and led the Hawks with 14 doubles wins while classmate Hillary Dutton went 9-3 in both singles and doubles play. Sophomore Lauren Schmidt had a terrific debut season for Roger Williams, winning a team-high 15 singles matches to go along with 10 doubles wins.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS: The Beavers return their top four players after finishing 9-10 overall and tied for third place in the NEWMAC last year. Babson won seven of its nine matches in the fall portion of the schedule and advanced to the NEWMAC semifinals for the third consecutive season. Freeman led the squad with 13 singles victories last season while Ferraro and Paolino each won 10 singles matches and paired up for 11 doubles wins. The Green and White was picked to finish third when the conference released its preseason coaches' poll last week.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Dating back to 1999, Babson has won 14 consecutive season-opening matches.
