THE SERIES: Babson and Springfield will meet for the 20th time on Saturday afternoon in a series that dates back to the 1995 season. The Beavers hold a 15-4 edge all-time and have dominated the Pride as of late, winning 14 straight matches going back to 2000.

LAST MEETING: Senior Sarah Whitaker and junior Alex Freeman rolled to an 8-0 sweep at number one doubles setting the tone for Babson's 9-0 over the Pride on October 6, 2012 in Springfield. Freeman, Whitaker, sophomore Tori Paolino and junior Alexis Ferraro all cruised to singles victories as the Beavers won their sixth straight match at Springfield.

LAST SPRINGFIELD WIN: The Pride topped Babson 8-1 on September 18, 1999 in Springfield.

SCOUTING THE PRIDE: Springfield will open its season on Saturday after finishing at 6-10 overall and 2-5 in the NEWMAC last season. Melanie Thulin won six singles matches last season while Ariana Shemms contributed three singles and three doubles wins. Springfield has just one senior on its roster and will welcome six first-year players to their roster this fall.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS: Babson (1-0) opened its season with a convincing 9-0 win over Roger Williams last Friday, easily winning all three doubles matches and sweeping all six singles matches in straight sets. First-year Dina Weick teamed with Freeman for an 8-2 victory at number doubles and then won 6-2, 6-1 at number two singles for the first two points of her collegiate career. Ferraro and Paolino both won 6-0, 6-1 at number four and five singles, respectively, while junior Courtney Fischer picked up a 6-3, 6-0 win at number six singles.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: The Beavers are riding an eight-match winning streak over Springfield at Farwell Courts dating back to 2000.
