Women's Tennis Edged By No. 29 Bates, 5-4

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Junior Alexis Ferraro (Coral Gables, Fla.) and sophomore Tori Paolino (East Orleans, Mass.) both won in both singles and doubles action, but Babson College came up just short on Sunday, falling to 29th-ranked Bates College, 5-4, in its final match of the Wellesley College Nor'Easter Bowl at the Farwell Courts.

With the victory, Bates is now 7-3 on the year, while Babson drops to 10-9 with the loss.

Ferraro won 7-5, 7-5 at number three singles and Paolino cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 triumph at number four, while senior Sarah Whitaker (Dellwood, Minn.) rolled to a 6-0, 7-5 victory at number two to lead the Beavers. Junior Alex Freeman (Medfield, Mass.) was edged 6-2, 7-5 at number one, and first-years Dina Weick (Woodbridge, Conn.) and Sarah Calmas (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) were defeated at third and sixth singles, respectively.

Ferraro and Paolino earned Babson's lone point in doubles with a dominating 8-1 win at number two. Whitaker and junior Courtney Fischer (Greenwich, Conn.) lost 8-6 at number three and Freeman and Weick fell 8-2 at number one.

The Beavers will host Connecticut College in their final match of the season on Friday at 3 p.m.
