Women's Tennis Wraps Up Play at ITA New England Championships

MIDDLEBURY, Vt.—The Babson College women's tennis team wrapped up play at the 2015 ITA New England Championships on Saturday as sophomores Yagmur Akgul (Istanbul, Turkey) and Jenny Quenard (St.-Legier, Switzerland) saw their upset bid in the quarterfinals of the 32-team doubles bracket come up just short.

Seeded seventh in the doubles draw, Akgul and Quenard rolled through their first two matches on Friday before falling to the top-seeded pairing of of Sue Ghosh and Vickie Ip of Amherst, 9-8 (8-6).

The Green and White also had three players compete in the consolation singles bracket on Saturday as Quenard and first-year Eleni Gianelos (West Chester, Pa.) each split a pair of shortened matches, while Akgul dropped her only singles match of the day.

The Beavers return to team competition on Tuesday when they travel to Harvard for a 4 p.m. match against Emerson.
