NATICK, Mass.—Four different players won in both singles and doubles as the 28th-ranked Babson College women's tennis team defeated Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 7-2, as part of the Wellesley College Nor'easter Bowl on Saturday night at the Natick Racquet Club.
With the win, Babson is now 12-5 overall, while Rensselaer falls to 4-6 on the year.
The Beavers jumped to a 2-1 lead after doubles as the first-year duo of Eleni Gianelos (West Chester, Pa.) and Chloe Brandt (Denver, Colo.) won 8-2 at number one, while senior Tori Paolino (East Orleans, Mass.) and sophomore Kylie Kam (Honolulu, Hawaii) were 9-7 winners at number two. Sophomore Claire Foster (Orange, Conn.) and first-year Alexandra Blizard (Dover, Mass.) dropped a 9-7 decision at third doubles.
Gianelos posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory at number one singles, while Paolino rallied for a 3-6, 6-4, 2-1 triumph at number two. Brandt was a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 winner at number three, Foster rallied to post a 6-7 (7-3), 6-2, 6-2 victory at number four and Kam rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win at number five.
Babson will return to action on Sunday when it takes on 33rd-ranked Christopher Newport indoors at Wellesley at 9 a.m.
