WELLESLEY, Mass.—The Babson College women's team, ranked 28th in the most recent ITA national poll, suffered a 5-1 loss to 33rd-ranked Christopher Newport University in the finale day of Nor'easter Bowl competition at the Keohane Sports Center.
With the loss, Babson falls to 12-6 on the year, while Christopher Newport snapped its three-match losing streak to move to 11-5 overall.
The Beavers earned their lone point at number one doubles as first-years Eleni Gianelos (West Chester, Pa.) and Chloe Brandt (Denver, Colo.) with an 8-6 victory. Senior Tori Paolino (East Orleans, Mass.) and sophomore Kylie Kam (Honolulu, Hawaii) fell 8-4 at number two doubles, while sophomore Claire Foster (Orange, Conn.) and first-year Alexandra Blizard (Dover, Mass.) dropped an 8-3 decision at number three.
Down 2-1 after doubles, the Green and White were beaten in the top three singles matches to close out the match. Gianelos fell 6-1, 6-4 at number one, while both Paolino and Brandt suffered 6-3, 6-3 setbacks at number two and three, respectively.
Babson returns to action on Friday when it travels to Connecticut College at 3:30 p.m., while CNU visits No. 18 Mary Washington on Saturday at 11 a.m.
