Bilzard, Roeper Garner ITA All-Academic Team Honors

BABSON PARK, Mass.—A pair of Babson College women's tennis players were honored for the their work in the classroom when the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its 2017 All-Academic Scholar Athletes late last week.

Rising junior Alexandra Blizard (Dover, Mass.) and rising sophomore Emily Roeper (Belle Mead, N.J.) both garnered All-Academic Scholar Athlete laurels. Additionally, the Beavers were one of 237 Division III program's to collect ITA Academic Team accolades for the second year in a row under the direction of head coach Jim Berrigan.

To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale), and have been enrolled at their present institution for at least two semesters. Academic team honors are awarded to any program with a 3.20 GPA or higher.

Blizard was named to the team for the second year in a row after winning one singles match and a pair of doubles matches for the Green and White. Roeper, who landed on the squad for the first time, went 7-5 in all singles matches and 7-4 in doubles play. She posted a 4-0 mark in both doubles and singles matches against league foes.
