BABSON PARK, Mass.—Five players were victorious in both singles and doubles as Babson College rolled past St. Lawrence University, 9-0, in non-conference women's tennis action on Sunday afternoon at the Boston Sports Club.
With the win, Babson improves to 2-0 on the year, while St. Lawrence falls to 1-3.
The Beavers got the afternoon started with three easy wins in doubles, highlighted by the 8-1 triumph at number one by first-years Alexa Tutecky (North York, Ontario) and Carolina Merz (Santa Tecla, El Salvador). Seniors Claire Foster (Orange, Conn.) and Kylie Kam (Honolulu, Hawaii) coasted to an 8-2 victory at number two and sophomore Emily Roeper (Belle Mead, N.J.) and first-year Marissa Madison (Columbus, Ohio) completed the sweep with an 8-3 win at number three.
Babson won all six singles matches in straight sets, beginning with Tutecky's 6-0, 6-0 result at number one. Merz posted a 6-0, 6-3 victory at number two, while Foster recorded a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 victory at number three.
Kam was a 6-4, 6-3 winner at number four, Roeper breezed to a 6-3, 6-1 decision at number five, and junior Alexandra Blizard (Dover, Mass.) collected a 6-4, 6-2 victory at number six.
The Beavers return to action on March 18 when they take on Colorado College in Orlando, Fla., while the Saints travel to Middlebury to take on the host Panthers and Colby on March 17.
