BABSON PARK, Mass.—After opening the year with one dual match and a trio of tournaments, first-year Babson College women's tennis coach Michael Kopelman released his program's 2019 spring schedule on Friday afternoon.
The Beavers, who went 13-5 and reached the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament final a season ago, will face three teams that appeared in the 2018 NCAA Tournament in its first four matches. The Green and White opens with Division II Stonehill on February 23 and will host Colby-Sawyer, which advanced to the second round of the NCAA championship, on March 9.
Babson travels to southern California for three matches during spring break where it will take on Pomona-Pitzer, who reached the third round of last year's Division III tournament on March 18, and the defending national champions, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, on March 19. The Beavers fly home to visit Emerson in their league opener on March 26, which is followed by a stretch of three matches in four days as they host Trinity on March 28 before traveling to take on Brandeis on March 29 and Springfield on March 30.
The Green and White will play five of its final seven matches at home, beginning with a tilt against Smith on April 2. The Beavers visit Mount Holyoke on April 6 before returning to the Babson Tennis Complex to host Wellesley (April 9), Connecticut College (April 12) and Clark (April 13) in a five-day stretch.
Babson hits the road to face Wheaton on April 16 and will wrap up NEWMAC play against MIT, which advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals last spring, on April 23. The six-team league tournament begins with the quarterfinals on April 27, which is followed by semifinal matches at the top two seeds on April 30. The conference tournament final will be played at the highest seed on May 4.
