Tutecky Named Singles Player of the Week, while Merz and Madison Earn Doubles Team of the Week Recognition
WESTWOOD, Mass.—The Babson College women's tennis team swept the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) weekly awards on Tuesday. Sophomore Alexa Tutecky (North York, Ontario) was tabbed as the league's singles player of the week, while classmates Carolina Merz (Santa Tecla, El Salvador) and Marissa Madison (Columbus, Ohio) were selected as the doubles team of the week.
Tutecky rolled to an easy 6-2, 6-0 victory over Allison Reiling at number one singles, while the duo of Merz and Madison scored an 8-2 win over Jennifer Kary and Madeline DeNucci at number two doubles against Holy Cross on February 10. The Beavers, who were playing their spring opener, breezed to a 9-0 triumph over the Division I Crusaders.
Babson (1-1) returns to action on Sunday when it hosts Stonehill at 2:30 p.m. inside the Boston Sports Club.
