Tutecky Named NEWMAC Women's Tennis Singles Player of the Week

WESTWOOD, Mass.—Babson College sophomore Alexa Tutecky (North York, Ontario) was selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's tennis Singles Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Tutecky recorded the biggest win of her career on Sunday knocking off Division III's fifth-ranked player, Caroline Casper of No. 4 Pomona-Pitzer, 6-3, 6-3 at number one singles in the Beavers' loss to the Sagehens. A two-time semifinalist in the NCAA Division III Singles Championship, Casper was coming off two wins over nationally-ranked foes prior to losing to Tutecky.

The reigning NEWMAC Rookie of the Year, Tutecky is 4-0 on the year and owns a 15-3 career record at number one singles.

Babson (2-2) returns to action on Tuesday when it takes on defending Division III champions Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 6 p.m. ET.
